This weekend was pretty awesome. (I'm too tired for clever introductions.) I was sort of off for most of it, been in a funk lately. But looking back, and in retelling of this weekend, it was pretty amazing.
So, here it is, in bullet form (because i'm still really tired):
Friday night:
8:30-Arrive at campsite. I was a little nervous about setting up the tent. My parents are pretty protective of their stuff. But, Dom helped me set it up, so it was all good. Then, he set up his own tent (which didn't have a door)
9:30- Start wandering around, trying to find people I know. Find Dom again and tag along as he goes to cook his steak at another campsite. That's not some sort of euphemism either. Our group had like, 4 campsites kind of sprawled around. I was in a funk last week, so I naturally tried to find something to drink as soon as possible. I mixed myself a little Diet cherry/vanilla pepsi and a little Seagrams (ok, a lot of Seagrams) and settled in by the fire. (Yay for healthy coping habits! I rationalize it by saying that at least I left the house to drink.)
Sat in a happy buzz for a while, then wandered back to my campsite
10:00 or so (lost track of time at this point) Cool new friend arrives. (Hi Charm!)
Hung out with Dom and his sister and bro-in-law at the way better fire on our site. Ate marshmallows marinated in Mudslide mix. Yum. Had a beer. Really relaxed at this point.
11? Everyone realized our site had the best fire, and we all congregated there. Everyone had a marshmallow and I drank some of the marinade. (have we noticed a theme yet?)
12:30 or so I change into my jammies and go back to our fire. It is only four of us at this point, all half asleep, but unwilling to call it quits. I was resting my head in my own lap at one point.
3am we call it quits. Dom stays out by the fire to sleep. Matt goes to his tent, and Charm and I go to ours.
Saturday:
9am- TOP arrives at the campsite as I'm waking up. I get out, and we all take pictures of Dom sleeping in his tent. (His tent had no door, and he looked so cute there all bundled up, with just his eyes peeking over the blanket. *collective "aw"*) :-).
I'd just like to take a moment to thank Dom's mom for picking a place with showers.
We putz around the site and have breakfast, and get ready to canoe.
...and I'll have to finish this post tomorrow, because I am an old lady and must go to bed now.
But, I'll leave you with this:
I've decided to switch Half Nekkid Thursday to Tuesday this week because I'm feeling sassy. Enjoy!
This is me in the car today on the way to a meeting. Even though the results from going to the gym might not be visible to others yet, I feel the difference. This tranlsates into me wearing shorter skirts, which is fun. I think this is the shortest one I own right now. Happy HNT!
