And yes, I am aware that 2007 is off to a very nerdy start.

Whoo. It's been a while since I've written in here. Anyway, postlessness aside, things have been going pretty well in my offline life. Tomorrow starts my second week of a new semester. The class line up is pretty awesome: 4 English classes. Woohoo! This makes little word-nerd me very happy. I've got a classes in Advanced Rhetoric, Structure of English, Writing Manuals, and Freelancing. They're smaller classes, which I love, with mostly just people in my major. All my professors insist on a first-name basis to cultivate a level of professional comaradarie. It's fantastic. I feel like they take me seriously as a peer. I'm still amazed at how comfortable I feel in this major. And I keep being surprised that I'm being taken seriously as a writer and student. The director of the department recently recommended me to another faculty member to speak to highschool students at the Writing Relay about choosing my major.

I'm also finally a senior, credit-wise. I've been in junior limbo for the past two years, and I'm finally done with it! I'll be a super-senior when I gradutate, and it'll be about a year and a half before I graduate, but for now I'm happy to be in the next step.

And, speaking of stepping, I went swing dancing this weekend and had a marvelous time. I went with a group of mostly girls, and one boy. The band was terrific, and the other dancers were amazing. Some of the couples looked quite professional. Well, except for this one guy who didn't know how to dance at all, but kept asking me to dance with him. And wanted to buy me a drink. And wore waaay too much cologne. Fortunately, the girls I was with had my back and took turns saving me. I was tactful and polite in turning him down, and when I refused the drink, he said he understood. But then he came back, drunk. His fourth and final attempt, he was at the weepy stage of drinking and started talking about how hard it was to find somebody. When he started to tell me that if I had somebody, I should go to him. It was actually kind of sweet, for a moment, when he was waxing philosphical about the importance of love. But then his speech got even more garbled and I excused myself to go talk to a friend who was conveniently on the other side of the room.

Yeah, he was kind of creepy, and was hitting on all the curvy girls in the room. But still, a little attention is nice.

(Jeeze. I'm desperate enough to enjoy the attention of drunk guys drooling at my boobs. "You look very priddy in that dresh....you are verry priddy..." Go me.)

Anyway, I'm off to finish up some homework and give the hair a trim (if I don't keep close tabs on the hair, it all of a sudden starts to become a mullet.) Hopefully, I'll have some good blogging material now that the new semester has started. I have a couple brain-tingling books ordered at my schools library. If my social life lacks, at least I'll be able to blog about quantum physics or the Latin vs Germanic history of the English language.

And yes, I am aware that 2007 is off to a very nerdy start.
