August, in a nutshell, part one

Yes, I am still alive. And yes, I still read you all on d-land. Real Life has taken over for a bit. My eye hasn't stopped twitching (off and on, not like, continuously) for the past three weeks. I'm getting used to the shakey vision on the left. Plus, I took the internet out of my room, for the most part. I still go on, when I have financial things to take care of. But other than that, if I'm online its somewhere else. This summer I started to hole up in my room too much because I was falling back into old habits. I was spending too much time alone, in my room. I was getting anxious again, and hiding in my room is the standard response for me. I'm getting better, though, really.

Anyway, I'm not going to get into it here, it doesn't really matter. I'm back now. :)

So, what's new, you ask? Nothing too major. So, in order for this entry not to be a million

miles long, Here's my update in bulleted form:

  • I've been putting in a lot of volunteer time in the ministry I do, and that's part of

    what's kept me so busy.

  • Also, I got a couple of freelance graphic design jobs thanks to a friend of mine, and a web design job for a librarian I work with.

  • I still love working at the library.

  • I went out to dinner with two couples (one dating, one married). They were seated two on one side, two on the other, and me on the end. During dinner, it occured to me that if we were a car, I was literally where the fifth wheel would be. But, it was fun. There was sushi and jazz and much rejoicing. I tried octopus for the first time! It was delcious. Also delicous: one of the people later told others of the people that I had a "classic elegance," and that he was "taken aback" when he first saw me, as he didn't know who I was, both of which were such lovely compliments. (Nothing to worry about, folks, my single status is in tact. Said person is married; it wasn't like that.)

  • I went dancing with some friends (thanks to dembrat's roomate!). The venue offered a quick lesson before opening up the floor. Among novices are semi-professional dancers. Learned a couple ballroom steps. Danced with some middle aged men who were also taking the lesson. One of them told me I "move elegantly." (That makes for two, count 'em, TWO "elegances" in one month. I'm on roll!) I had a blast. I got to dance a lot, and learned some new merenge moves (I danced the merenge with the owner of the place, this lovely British gentleman who danced the merenge very well.

  • Dembrat's roomate later pointed out that we (all four of us that came, sans men) had paid for the company of men. And we were all ok with that. Some of us had swishy skirts, and those of who didn't still got to swivel their hips to their heart's content. We all agreed that (wholesome) things like this that provide male company and contact make it easier to be single.(This all sounds rather bad in text. But I don't care. Whee! I am elegantly frivoulous.)

  • That must be all for now, poppets. Mama's gotta go to bed.

  • Though, that sort of reminds me... At the beginning of August, I learned "Mama like" and "Horny" in sign language. I am such an intellectual. (Thanks dembrat!)

  • Ok. Beddy by time for real. Nighty night!

To be continued...
